Male Betta fish (Siamese Fighting Fish) create a collection of bubbles at the top of their habitat to help keep the freshly fertilized eggs in one place. Males keep a bubble nest fresh every day regardless of the presence of female Bettas. They spend a lot of time at it. They create the bubbles by sucking air through their gills and spitting them out of their mouth.
